Gerd Medications

Gerd Medications and their uses.
If you are an acid reflux sufferer then chances are you are either a) on gerd medications b) researching these medications. Whether you are looking for a new medication or simply looking to learn about the medication you are currently taking then we have information for you. Gerd or as it’s commonly referred too acid reflux is the burning you feel in your chest usually after eating.
In this article I will talk about the various forms of medications, this includes over the counter and prescription. I also will spend a good amount of time informing you the negative aspects of taking prescription medicines to treat gerd.
While this article will promote the use of natural and over the counter medicines over prescription medicines I will still discuss the the prescription gerd medications. Starting with h2 blockers like tagamet or (prescription) pepcid. The role of h2 blockers is too directly reduce the amount of acid in the stomach. Like h2 blockers, proton pump inhibitors also reduce the amount of acid in the stomach, some examples of proton pump inhibitors are prescription medications like Prevacid and Prilosec.
Over-The-Counter Gerd Medications and Remedies
More importantly, the use of prescription medications should be a last resort. Taking too many medications can actually make symptoms worse. More and more sufferers prefer over the counter medicines. Antacids such as Maalox and tums temporarily neutralize stomach acid. Other popular choices include Mylanta, Rolaids and Gelusil. However, again I have to stress the negatives of reliance on prescriptions or over the counter meds. Herbal remedies are sweeping the nation and gerd is being targeted.
Natural Remedies for Gerd – The safest way.
Some people will go directly to prescription medicines for their problem, but as smart gerd sufferers know, there are safe and natural ways to treat gerd. Prescription medications are quickly giving way to all natural solutions. Why pay for prescriptions that could potentially make it worse when you can cure it at home? Here’s a few ideas for you try that are a safe alternative to gerd medications. First, baking soda, that’s right baking soda mixed with water after every meal will severely improve your gerd symptoms. Second, you can try one of those detox diets as they are known to help with overall health and we know the gerd has a direct relation to overall health status. Third and my personal favorite is Chamomile. Chamomile reduces the amount of acid produces as well helps with digestion and acid reflux. Lastly, and probably the most important alternative to gerd medications is to drink lots of water I can’t stress enough just how much drinking plenty of water can improve your overall health and yes, your GERD! If possible try and consume as much as a gallon per day, it seems difficult but if you keep water near you throughout the day you are gonna drink it and it goes by fast so a gallon is very realistic so keep that in mind. Good luck!
